2009

Richard Lambert with all winners

Using demanding criteria, the 13 independent experts of the BCE Panel of Assessors have considered in detail the many applications that were received for the 2009 BCE Awards. This rigorous vetting is one of the things that sets the BCE Awards apart from other environmental award schemes.

All of the businesses that were presented with trophies by Richard Lambert, Director-General of the CBI, at the BCE Awards Ceremony on 1 July 2009 have been through this selection process.  They can be justifiably proud of the environmental excellence and leadership  they have demonstrated.

Congratulating the winners, Richard Lambert said: ‘The CBI has just published its second climate change tracker, which monitors the progress of Government and business towards meeting our environmental goals. It shows that much needs to be done to get us back on track, not least by business.  Today's winners are true low-carbon leaders. They have made great strides in curbing their emissions and developing some remarkable low-carbon products and services. It will be their commitment and innovation that will get us on the road to a low-carbon economy.'
