Processed Polymers Ltd -
Unlocking the value of waste
Cured rubber, both in post-consumer and post-industrial material streams has considerable impact on the environment. This project enables the true recycling of cross linked rubbers. Waste materials from post-industrial sources are processed and can then be returned to their original production source where they can replace virgin compounds.

Epson Telford Ltd -
Resource saving activities
This project has reduced energy consumption by 7% in FY2003 on FY2002. Landfilling of waste has been eliminated by maximising recycled waste and incinerating, with heat recovery, waste that is not directly recycled. The process produces wastewater, which is used as gray water on site.

Johnson Matthey Catalysts - Precious metals recovery
This project involves complimentary technologies to recover precious metals (PMs) which are used as catalysts in many industries. Smopex® uses ion exchange technology to remove high value PMs from waste materials and material which may not be suitable for transport or traditional incineration. Smopex® fibres offer much faster metal recovery and higher metal loadings on the fibre than other available techniques.
AquaCat® is a novel technology using supercritical water oxidation technology for the recovery of precious metals from spent catalysts in order to re-supply as fresh catalyst. The metal extracted by the Smopex® fibres can be recovered in AquaCat®.
