In 2002, Innocent Drinks embarked on a journey to improve the environmental performance of its 250 ml polyethylene teraphthalate (PET) bottle, and to reduce its reliance on virgin materials. Firstly, in 2003, the company lightweighted the bottle (14.3% reduction) and started using 25% post-consumer recycled plastic in the bottle.

By 2006, the recycled content had been increased to 50%, and in September 2007, Innocent launched the world's first 100% post-consumer recycled plastic bottle for four of its products. In January 2008, the new bottle was rolled out to the rest of the range. The bottle has 55% less embedded carbon dioxide equivalent than the original bottle the company started with. This year, this will save over a 1,000 tonnes of carbon emissions.

"We are really excited to have been awarded the Sir Peter Parker award.  At innocent, sustainability is a key part of our business purpose. We want to prove that you can be a successful, competitive business, while having a positive impact on the world around you. Our mantra is to leave things a little better than we find them, and we work to achieve this across the entire business, whether it's buying fruit from farms that look after their workers and the environment, or only boiling the water that we need in the office kitchen.  Winning this award is great recognition for our efforts, and only inspires us to keep delivering great results going forward".
