Winners of BCE Awards receive many benefits.  The following is a selection suggested by those who have taken part in past years:

  • Recognition - customers and the business community recognise the credibility of the Awards.
  • Association - winners become aligned with innovation, ethical trading and best practice.
  • Motivation - the Awards can give recognition to the people within the business.
  • Exposure - winners are actively promoted by BCE, supported by the Brunswick Group, and receive a high level of interest from national, regional and trade publications.

Eddie Bingham, UK Engineering Director, of InterfaceFLOR (winner of the 2005 Sir Peter Parker Award) said, “The Award acts as a testament to the hard work and commitment of everyone involved at InterfaceFLOR. Throughout each and every level of the company, there is a real belief in what we are trying to do. Hopefully, other businesses, both large and small, will see what can be achieved and follow us on our quest to be 100% sustainable".

BCE is an accredited feeder scheme for the biennial European Business Awards for the Environment (EBAE), which ensures that only the best of the best are considered by the European judges.  Following its success in the 2007 BCE Awards, The Co-operative Group went on to triumph over fierce European competition to scoop the 2008 EBAE Management Award.

Chris Shearlock, Environment Manager at the Co-operative Group, commented: "At The Co-operative Group we are dedicated to improving the environment and counteracting climate change. The recognition we have gained, first through winning the Business Commitment to the Environment Award and now being chosen for the Business Awards for the Environment means a great deal to us. Environmental commitment is intrinsic to our identity as a company, and it is wonderful to receive independent recognition from the EU in this way."
